Thank you for your interest in my poem. While I have had plays performed, I
very seldom write poetry ... only when I feel somewhat compelled by an event
or situation.
After the fatal accident of the 3 Green Berets, I was watching TV and I
heard the father of Daniel Petithory say that Dan had told him that he could
not tell him where he was going. The phrase "I can't tell you where I'm
going" leaped out at me and I felt as if Daniel Petithory was somehow asking
me to relay his inner thought to his Dad.
I went to my computer and wrote it in about fifteen minutes on 12/6/01. I
revised it a little on 12/7/01 and sent it to my friend at Ghelove@Aol.com,
asking Phillip to send it out for me, as he is more knowledgeable about such
things. I also asked my friends at Kaiser Hospital in Los Angeles to send
it out.
I must say that I am quite surprised at the great response I am
getting from all who have heard it. My friends Rita, Marilyn and Brigette
all got misty eyed. So I feel that my brother, Daniel Petithory and his
buddies must be all very pleased in heaven.
Marilyn thinks that it will become somewhat of a little poem that the
Green Berets can carry in their wallets because it tells it like it is. I thank
you greatly for your interest.
I did some acting in Hollywood years ago. You can see me in a
movie called "Doctor Detroit" with Dan Aykroyd. I am the tall baldheaded
limo driver with a moustache.
I would be most happy if you can forward it to the family of Daniel Petithory
because it may sound crazy but I feel that this is what Dan wants. I am
always playing jokes on my friends and it seems that Dan was the same type.
